Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media between January 24 and January 26, 2026, addressing emergency preparedness, parental control in education, and international developments regarding Israeli hostages.

On January 24, Cline expressed gratitude for federal action ahead of an impending winter storm: “I appreciate President Trump’s swift approval of our request yesterday for Virginia’s Emergency Declaration ahead of tonight’s winter storm. Virginians should prepare now and follow guidance from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.”

Two days later, on January 26, Cline highlighted his position on educational policy during National School Choice Week: “Education decisions belong to parents, NOT the federal government. Every family deserves the freedom to choose the school that works best for their kids. I will always fight for policies to keep parents in the driver’s seat for their child’s education.”

Later that day, he commented on news concerning Israeli hostages in Gaza: “This is encouraging news and a meaningful step toward lasting peace. After 843 long days, every Israeli hostage in Gaza has been brought home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ran Gvili, the final hostage returned, and may his memory always be a blessing.”

Ben Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle at age 51, Cline holds a BA from Bates College (1994) and a JD from the University of Richmond (2007).
