Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 17, 2025, addressing topics ranging from American founding principles to veterans’ benefits and government surveillance practices.

In a morning post, Cline reflected on the origins of the United States, writing, “Our Founding Fathers launched the greatest experiment in liberty the world has ever known. Their courage and conviction built the foundation of the freest nation on earth, uniting We the People in the ongoing pursuit of a more perfect union.” (September 17, 2025).

Later that day, he turned his attention to veterans’ affairs: “Our veterans answered the call serving our great Nation. Now they are finally getting the benefits they have earned thanks to @SecVetAffairs for cutting through the backlog and delivering results once AGAIN.” (September 17, 2025).

In an evening post regarding federal oversight and surveillance, Cline stated: “The abuse of FISA surveillance under previous FBI leadership, including more than 200,000 improper searches, is unacceptable. @FBIDirectorKash is holding them accountable — improper searches of Americans will NOT be tolerated.” (September 17, 2025).

Ben Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle at age 51, Cline holds degrees from Bates College and a JD from the University of Richmond.
