Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 24, 2025, addressing trade policy, immigration enforcement, and fiscal preparedness.
In his first post at 12:55 UTC, Cline highlighted a new international agreement: “.@POTUS just secured a $550 billion trade deal with Japan, a game changer that opens the door for potentially cheaper generic antibiotics that puts lifesaving medicine within reach for more American families.”
Later that afternoon at 15:04 UTC, Cline drew comparisons between recent and previous presidential administrations regarding immigration policy: “Under Biden, nearly 1.9M illegal immigrants were released into the U.S. Under Trump Admin? Just 7. That’s the difference between chaos and control. The broken border era is over, we’re enforcing the law and restoring order for every American community.”
That evening at 22:37 UTC, Cline announced bipartisan legislative action focused on federal financial readiness: “Just as American families have to financially prepare for emergencies, the federal government should too. I’m proud to introduce the Fiscal Contingency Preparedness Act with @RepGolden. This bipartisan bill holds Washington accountable by requiring the federal government to”
Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District since replacing Bob Goodlatte in 2019 and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle, he earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College in 1994 and his law degree from the University of Richmond in 2007.
