Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed issues related to voter identification, support for former President Donald Trump’s agenda, and immigration enforcement through a series of posts on his social media account.

On February 23, 2026, Cline questioned the logic behind identification requirements for different activities: “Zohran Mamdani is requiring an ID just to shovel snow but Democrats oppose requiring an ID in our elections. 213 Democrats showed where they stand on the House floor. If shoveling snow requires an ID, shouldn’t voting in our federal elections?”

The following day, on February 24, he expressed support for Donald Trump and the House GOP: “.@realDonaldTrump has fought fiercely to enact the America First agenda that 77M Americans voted for. Tonight, I’m looking forward to hearing about the accomplishments of the Trump Admin 2.0 and @HouseGOP that are making America great again!”

Later on February 24, Cline criticized Representative Abigail Spanberger’s decision regarding local cooperation with federal immigration authorities: “Abigail Spanberger ENDED the 287(g) partnership with ICE, which was responsible for taking some of the most violent career criminals off our streets. Virginians deserve leaders who stand with @Sec_Noem and @DHSgov in enforcing our immigration laws.”

Ben Cline has served as a member of Congress since replacing Bob Goodlatte in 2019 and previously held office in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently resides in Fincastle. Cline holds a BA from Bates College (1994) and a JD from the University of Richmond (2007).
