Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on international affairs, local policy, and education through a series of posts on his social media account.
On April 8, 2026, Cline commented on President Trump’s actions regarding Middle East tensions: “Grateful for decisive leadership from President Trump in securing a ceasefire and advancing lasting peace in the region, despite Russia and China’s attempts to block the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Russia and China have proven they are not only”.
Later that day, he addressed immigration enforcement policies in Virginia: “Fairfax County’s sanctuary policies continue to endanger Virginians. My 287(g) Cooperation Act ensures the Left stops prioritizing criminal illegal aliens, and starts working with @DHSgov to protect Americans.” This statement reflects ongoing debates about local cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
On April 9, 2026, Cline highlighted an educational milestone involving his congressional interns: “My Harrisonburg office interns, currently seniors at @JMU, had the opportunity to meet @JMUPresidentJim, the new President of James Madison University. President Schmidt is just the 7th president in JMU’s 118-year history. Proud of these students, and Go Dukes!”
Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte. He previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and now residing in Fincastle at age 51, Cline holds a BA from Bates College (1994) and a JD from the University of Richmond (2007).
