Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national political issues, including accusations against the Biden Administration, the ongoing government shutdown, and border security.
On October 7, 2025, Cline alleged abuse of power by the executive branch, stating, “This is more than partisan politics, it’s a blatant abuse of power. The Biden Administration weaponized the FBI to spy on GOP Senators. Thanks to Judiciary Chairman @ChuckGrassley’s relentless oversight, accountability is on the way.”
Later that day, Cline commented on the government shutdown, attributing responsibility to Senate Democrats. He wrote, “It’s been 156 hours since the #SchumerShutdown began. Each day it continues costs taxpayers $400 million and our economy takes the hit. It’s time for Senate Democrats to stop playing games and reopen the government.” This statement was posted on October 7, 2025.
In a third post that same day, Cline addressed border security and immigration enforcement. He said, “Illegal crossings have crashed to multi-decade lows. @DHSgov is finally empowered to enforce the law. Democrats spent years demanding a bill to secure the border; it turns out that all we needed was leadership that follows the Constitution.”
Ben Cline has served in Congress since 2019, succeeding Bob Goodlatte as the representative for Virginia’s 6th district. He previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018 and holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond. Cline was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently resides in Fincastle.
