Ben Cline criticizes Democratic immigration and welfare policies, marks Israel attack anniversary

Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Democratic policies and marking the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

On October 6, 2025, Cline alleged that Democratic lawmakers are not prioritizing American citizens. He wrote, “Democrats are prioritizing illegal immigrants, not Americans. Don’t take our word for it. Just listen to Maxine Waters admit it herself. Their focus isn’t on hardworking Americans. It’s on pushing their radical agenda.”

Later the same day, Cline addressed welfare policy and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating, “Automatic welfare handouts under the Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility loophole have been rampant with fraud and abuse, extending far beyond their original intent to help those in need. My No Welfare for the Wealthy Act will end this abuse and ensure SNAP benefits go only to”

On October 7, 2025, Cline marked the second anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, posting, “On October 7, 2023, the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hamas carried out a horrific attack on our ally Israel. Two years later, we remember that dark day, stand firmly with Israel, and continue to pray for the safe return of every person still held captive. May God bless and”

Cline has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Bob Goodlatte. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972, Cline currently resides in Fincastle. He holds a BA from Bates College and a JD from the University of Richmond.
