Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on October 16, 2025, addressing recent developments regarding government funding and law enforcement efforts.
In a post from the morning of October 16, Cline stated, “Republicans did our jobs to prevent a disruptive and damaging government shutdown. When the opportunity arose to prevent one, Democrats chose to embrace a shutdown crisis instead. https://t.co/IXP7y4LPMn @RepMGriffith, @RepJohnMcGuire, @RepJenKiggans, @RobWittman”.
Later that day, he commented on Democratic lawmakers’ approach to funding negotiations: “The hypocrisy from Democrats is astounding. Earlier this year, they demanded a vote for a clean CR. Now, following marching orders from Chuck Schumer, they refuse to support one. Their refusal to come back to the table is hurting the people they are supposed to represent. https://t.co/hBwNyzW1XP”.
Cline also praised law enforcement leadership in an evening statement: “.@FBIDirectorKash has worked tirelessly to keep our streets safe. The numbers speak for themselves. This is exactly the kind of work our @FBI should focus on, tracking down wanted individuals and targeting illicit drugs and career criminals that threaten our communities. https://t.co/pmyOT2M9HL”.
Ben Cline has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte and previously represented his area in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently resides in Fincastle. Cline earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College and holds a law degree from the University of Richmond.
