Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 1, 2025, to criticize Senate Democrats and local criminal justice policies.
In a post from October 1, Cline commented on the ongoing government shutdown debate: “The #SchumerShutdown could be over within hours if just five Senate Democrats choose to put America first and join the three who already voted with Senate Republicans last night to keep the government open. There’s no excuse for supporting political stunts that only hurt https://t.co/OBCnHKpec0”.
Later that day, he addressed concerns about crime and judicial decisions in Charlotte: “Judges who cut repeat offenders loose are endangering innocent Americans. Charlotte, you have a problem. Your criminal justice system is broken and innocent people are paying the price. It’s time to end Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies. https://t.co/votPlBOAVw” (October 1, 2025).
In another post from October 1, Cline contrasted current actions by Senate Democrats with previous bipartisan efforts: “Senate Republicans supported a clean CR 13 times under Joe Biden, bypassing the filibuster to keep the government funded. But yesterday? When we propose the exact same measure, Senate Democrats back down. It’s cowardice.”
Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District since 2019 after serving in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently resides in Fincastle. Cline graduated from Bates College in 1994 and earned a JD from the University of Richmond in 2007.
