Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing religious persecution, veterans’ support, and the ongoing government shutdown.
On November 4, 2025, Cline expressed solidarity with fellow lawmaker Riley Moore by stating: “Proud to stand with @RepRileyMoore in condemning the brutal persecution of Christians around the world. No one should face violence for their faith.”
Later that day, he criticized Senate Democrats regarding support for veterans during National Veterans Small Business Week: “We should be standing up for the heroes who’ve stood up for us.
It’s shameful that Senate Democrats can’t even support our veterans during National Veterans Small Business Week, especially when vital small business loans are on hold during the Democrats’ shut down. ” (November 4, 2025).
On November 5, 2025, Cline commented on the duration of the federal government shutdown and called for immediate action from Senate leadership: “I hope @SenSchumer and @SenateDems are proud of themselves. Their partisan games have made history. Today makes the longest government shutdown ever. Now do your job and vote to reopen the government immediately!”
Cline has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Bob Goodlatte as representative of Virginia’s 6th district. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle at age 51, Cline holds a BA from Bates College and a JD from the University of Richmond.
