Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 4, 2025, addressing national crime policy, the fentanyl crisis, and proposed tax legislation.
In a post made at 17:05 UTC, Cline wrote: “Americans overwhelming support President Trump’s plan to reduce crime. Even D.C.’s own mayor does. Why are radical Democrats so opposed to keeping our communities safe? https://t.co/8xkYe16ZKS”
Later that day at 18:12 UTC, he addressed concerns about the origins of fentanyl in the United States: “The CCP is behind America’s fentanyl crisis, flooding our nation with deadly precursor chemicals. Operation Box Cutter just stopped enough fentanyl to kill 70 MILLION Americans. It’s time to fight back, and that starts with holding China accountable.”
At 22:11 UTC on the same day, Cline commented on recent legislative efforts regarding taxation for tipped workers: “H.R. 1 secures No Tax on Tips to help Americans in every corner of our country, from tour guides to wait staff and tradespeople. Starting retroactively this year, more of their hard-earned wages will stay in their pockets for emergencies or to put meals on the table.”
Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle, Cline holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
