Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media discussing legislative priorities and recent developments on Capitol Hill.

On January 7, 2026, Cline wrote about a meeting with Scott Jennings at a Republican Study Committee lunch: “It was fantastic to have @ScottJenningsKY on Capitol Hill today for the @RepublicanStudy lunch. Scott highlighted the need to push back against the Left’s failed radical policies and to advance our America First agenda in Congress unapologetically.”

Later that day, Cline emphasized his support for free-market principles and competition in business: “Our country operates on free-market principles. Businesses should be free to operate as long as they don’t violate antitrust laws. We stand for the principles of the free market and supports healthy competition in the marketplace. @JudiciaryGOP”

On January 8, 2026, Cline addressed changes related to firearm suppressors: “Suppressor ownership is surging in 2026. My provision in H.R. 1 eliminated the outdated $200 NFA tax on suppressors. On January 1 alone, nearly 150,000 suppressor applications were submitted. The response from law-abiding gunowners was immediate and overwhelming.”

Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th district since replacing Bob Goodlatte in 2019 and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972, he currently resides in Fincastle and holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
