U.S. Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia’s 6th district, shared updates on border security, drug policy, and privacy legislation in a series of tweets posted on July 16 and 17, 2025.
On July 16, Cline highlighted recent immigration statistics under the Biden administration: “Last month, zero illegal immigrants were released into the U.S and encounters were at the lowest monthly total EVER recorded. Meanwhile, under Biden admin’s watch, 28,000 illegal immigrants were released in the country this time last year. This is a clear result of @POTUS’s https://t.co/4SFAYNzxj5”.
The following day, Cline addressed the ongoing fentanyl crisis in the United States. In his tweet from July 17, he stated: “Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45. It’s devastating families and their loved ones across the country. Yesterday, @POTUS signed @RepMGriffith’s HALT Fentanyl Act, a bill I proudly cosponsored to give law enforcement the tools they need to stop https://t.co/eY0JbraEew”.
Later that same day, Cline announced new legislative efforts focused on genetic privacy: “Your DNA is uniquely personal, and it deserves legal protection. Today I introduced the Don’t Sell My DNA Act with @RepZoeLofgren to: Add genetic data to bankruptcy protections Require consent before any sale Mandate secure deletion https://t.co/ODKQcXSnuz”.
Ben Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Bob Goodlatte in 2019. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle at age 51, Cline holds degrees from Bates College (BA) and the University of Richmond (JD).
