Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media highlighting former President Trump’s policies and their impact on trade, the economy, and border security.

On August 13, 2025, Cline praised a new trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom: “President Trump locked in a historic trade deal with the UK, opening nearly $5B in new export opportunities. It tears down unfair barriers and delivers big wins for American farmers and manufacturers. This is what winning looks like. “

Later that day, he criticized economic policies under President Biden while crediting Trump for improvements in wages and fuel prices: “Bidenomics devastated the economy, driving up costs and crushing paychecks. Since President Trump took office, wages are up 1.3%, gas is down nearly 10%, and more money is back in the pockets of hardworking Americans.”

On August 14, Cline addressed border security measures: “Zero illegal aliens released into the U.S. May. June. July. That’s 3 straight months. That’s the exact result of President Trump’s America First agenda in action by completely shutting down the border. This is how we prioritize our safety.”

Cline has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte. He previously held office in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972, Cline currently resides in Fincastle at age 51. He holds a BA from Bates College (1994) and a JD from the University of Richmond (2007).
