Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media reflecting on national events and political issues.

On October 13, 2025, Cline marked the anniversary of a key U.S. military institution, stating, “Happy 250th Birthday to the U.S. Navy! I’m grateful to all the sailors across the country who have answered the call to serve, safeguarding America’s seas and protecting our core values at home and abroad. #Navy250 #SemperFortis ️”

The following day, October 14, Cline commented on Charlie Kirk’s influence in public discourse: “Charlie Kirk inspired a new generation of Americans to love their country and embrace open dialogue on college campuses while standing for truth. He embodied the ideals of free speech, reminding me of Norman Rockwell’s painting, Freedom of Speech, which hangs in my office.”

Later that same day, Cline addressed concerns about international competition and domestic political gridlock: “China is taking no days off. Every day Democrats hold our government hostage, our foreign adversaries are watching. It’s far past time for Senate Democrats to wake up and realize the ripple effects this shutdown has on the United States.”

Cline has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte and previously held office in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle, he holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
