U.S. Congressman Ben Cline, who represents Virginia’s 6th district, has recently posted a series of statements on his official social media account addressing issues ranging from criminal justice reform to national security and free speech.

On August 25, 2025, Cline criticized bail reform policies in the United States, stating: “Far too often, dangerous criminals are released back onto the streets thanks to radical cashless bail policies. It’s time to put law-abiding Americans FIRST and end this madness.”

The following day, August 26, he commemorated the anniversary of the deaths of U.S. service members during the Afghanistan withdrawal: “Four years ago today, 13 brave American service members were killed at Abbey Gate while trying to help evacuate U.S. citizens during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

On August 27, Cline highlighted his commitment to defending free speech as a member of the House Judiciary Committee: “Free speech is a cornerstone of American democracy. As a member of @JudiciaryGOP, I’m committed to defending it, especially as we explore how European censorship laws are threatening innovation and expression in the U.S. Looking forward to this important hearing.”

Ben Cline has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Bob Goodlatte and previously represented constituents in the Virginia House of Delegates for over fifteen years. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently residing in Fincastle, Cline holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
