Ethan Anderson leads James Madison at Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington

Freshman Ethan Anderson led the James Madison University men’s golf team at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, which concluded on March 31 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Anderson finished a career-best 13th overall while competing as an individual outside of the JMU lineup.

Anderson, from Brisbane, Australia, placed 11th out of 88 players at the Country Club of Landfall with rounds of 69, 71, and 76 for an even-par total score of 216. His performance marked his best finish to date as a collegiate golfer.

The JMU team finished in last place among the fifteen teams participating, recording a total score of 902 (+38) after rounds of 295, 306, and 301. Tournament host University of North Carolina Wilmington won by nine strokes over No. 26 Duke University with a final tally of eighteen under par (846).

Senior Václav Tichý led the Dukes’ lineup by tying for thirty-first place with scores totaling four over par (220) across three rounds. Fellow senior Alex Seibal tied for fifty-fourth with a score of nine over par (225). Michael Hake tied for sixty-fourth after opening with a two-over-par round but finishing lower in subsequent rounds. Owen Kose tied for seventy-fifth and Garrett Kuhla made his first lineup appearance this season and tied for seventy-ninth.

James Madison’s men’s golf team is scheduled to continue its spring season April sixth through seventh at the Giles-Spratley Collegiate held at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia.
