ETSU defeated James Madison University 13-0 in eight innings on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park, preventing a series sweep by the Dukes. The Buccaneers broke open the game with a seven-run sixth inning and added five more runs in the eighth.

The loss drops JMU to an even 7-7 record for the season, while ETSU improves to 10-5 and ends a three-game losing streak.

Six different JMU players registered hits during the game. Sophomore Reece Moody went 1-for-2 with a double, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. This is now the longest hitting streak for a Duke since Mike Mancini had hits in 17 consecutive games in 2024.

The scoring began in the fifth inning when ETSU’s Luke Matlock hit a leadoff home run. In the sixth, after retiring two of the first three batters, JMU allowed ETSU to load the bases and ultimately score seven runs. The eighth inning saw ETSU add two runs via bases-loaded walks before two singles brought home three more runs, bringing the final score to 13-0.

JMU played on Sunday for only the second time this season; their previous Sunday game was a win over Michigan State on March 1.

Looking ahead, JMU will travel to face Radford on Tuesday, March 10 at 4 p.m., then return home for Sun Belt Conference play against Georgia Southern from March 13–15.
