VMI sophomore sprinter Naturale Faison was named the Southern Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week on March 25 following her performance at the Big South-SoCon Challenge.

Faison won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events, setting personal records in each. She finished the 100 meters in 11.85 seconds and completed the 200 meters in 24.44 seconds.

Her results contributed to a team victory for Southern Conference women over combined teams from Radford, UNC Asheville, Winthrop, and Gardner-Webb. VMI competed alongside Western Carolina and Wofford to help secure this win for their conference.

The announcement also recognized other athletes: Trevor Williams of Western Carolina University (WCU) as Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, Austin Cline (WCU) as Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, and Sadler Miller (WCU) as Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

VMI’s track team will not compete this weekend but is preparing for its next meet at the Electric City Invitational on April 3-4 at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina.
