Cliff Davis and Justin McBride from James Madison University’s men’s basketball team have been named to the Third Team All-Sun Belt, according to an announcement by the Sun Belt Conference regarding its 2025-26 postseason awards.

Davis ended the season with an average of 15.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He ranked second in the conference for three-point shots made, totaling 97 for the season. McBride led his team with an average of 15.5 points per game, also contributing 5.5 rebounds per game. He achieved a shooting percentage of 49.7 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc.

McBride was JMU’s leading scorer for most of the season, recording double-digit points in 21 games, including ten games with more than 20 points and two games where he scored at least 30 points. This achievement places him among only four JMU players since the 2004-05 season to have multiple games with at least 30 points in one season.

Davis closed out the regular season by scoring in double figures over his last fourteen games, with seven of those being 20-point performances. The guard from Thomasville, Georgia made six or more three-pointers in six different games this year. As of March 1, Davis is third on JMU’s single-season list for three-pointers made and needs four more to tie Kent Culuko’s record of 101 set during the 1993-94 season.

The recognition for Davis and McBride continues a trend for James Madison University, which has now had multiple players named to all-conference teams for three consecutive seasons since joining the Sun Belt Conference in the 2022-23 academic year.

James Madison will begin its participation in the Visit Pensacola Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Championship Presented by Air Force Reserve on Wednesday, March 4 at Pensacola Bay Center in Florida. The Dukes are scheduled to play against either Louisiana or Georgia State, depending on the outcome of their first-round matchup.

Other postseason award recipients include Chaze Harris (South Alabama) as Player of the Year; Luke Wilson (App State) as Defensive Player of the Year; Joshua Beadle (Coastal Carolina) as Newcomer of the Year; D.J. Hall (Texas State) as Freshman of the Year; Joey Chammaa (Arkansas State) as Sixth Man of the Year; and Scott Cross (Troy) as Joe Gottfried Coach of the Year.
