James Madison University announced on Apr. 28 that its women’s basketball team will add three transfer players—Ja’Quoia Jones-Brown from Long Beach State, Trinity Moore from Stephen F. Austin, and Trynce Taylor from Kennesaw State—for the upcoming season.

The addition of these transfers is intended to strengthen the team’s roster for the next season. Head Coach Sean O’Regan said, “I’m really proud of our staff for the work they did, both being thorough and quick with our assessment and recruitment of these three players. We feel outstanding with this class and their potential impact.”

Jones-Brown joins James Madison after a strong sophomore year at Long Beach State where she started in 29 out of 30 games and led her team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage. She was named an All-Big West honorable mention last season. O’Regan said about Jones-Brown: “Ja’Quoia is a great person who loves the game. She’s a versatile scoring guard who can really light it up. We are excited to have her join our family.” Before college, Jones-Brown earned several all-state honors while playing at Westlake High School in Atlanta.

Moore brings experience from both Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin universities, having played in over one hundred games during her collegiate career so far. Last season she averaged career bests in points and rebounds per game as a starter for SFA’s Ladyjacks and was named Southland Conference Tournament MVP after leading her team to victory in the championship game. O’Regan said: “Trinity is going to bring valuable experience and leadership to our team. She’s a proven scorer and winner, and most importantly, a wonderful person. We were thrilled to be able to get Trinity to join the family.”

Taylor arrives following a productive redshirt sophomore campaign at Kennesaw State where she averaged nearly ten points per game along with leading her team in rebounds while starting most games played last season; she also ranks among school leaders for defensive rebounds in program history despite missing one year due to injury earlier in her college career. O’Regan said: “We are elated to announce Trynce is joining our family. She fills a big need for us in our front court. She will be great for us on the glass and help fill in for some of our lost scoring. Her potential is off the charts.” Taylor previously starred at Saint Francis High School where she surpassed one thousand career points.

The new transfers will join incoming freshmen Reagan Edsell, Demi Gilliam, Maddie Leach, and Kinley Lewis as part of James Madison’s roster next season.
