JMU women’s golf ties for seventh at Daniel Island Invitational

James Madison University’s women’s golf team concluded its participation at the Daniel Island Invitational on Tuesday, with junior Grace Petzold leading the team by tying for 16th place. The event took place at the Daniel Island Club in South Carolina.

Petzold recorded rounds of 72, 73, and 74 on the par-72 course, marking her fourth top-25 finish this season. Two other JMU golfers also finished in the top 25: Bella Flores tied for 22nd with a total score of 221 (+5) after posting rounds of 74, 74, and 73; Emerson Elm tied for 25th with a score of 223 (+7), shooting rounds of 74, 74, and 75.

The Dukes as a team tied for seventh out of fifteen teams competing in the tournament. Their overall score was 889 (+25) over three rounds (295-299-295).

Other JMU participants included Klára Sionkova, who tied for 44th with a score of 227 (+11), and Avery Robinson, who finished tied for 77th at 240 (+24).

The team’s next scheduled competition is at the Magnolia Collegiate in Mobile, Alabama on March 16.
