Mark Obenshain, a Virginia State Senator, posted several messages on his X (formerly Twitter) account between September 10 and September 11, 2025. His tweets covered local community engagement, a call for unity and prayer, and remembrance of a national tragedy.
On September 10, Obenshain shared details about a local event: “Wonderful turnout this morning at the MTC Community Conversation meeting with local businesses, RCPS leadership and community leaders. Lots of excitement for expanding programs for students and adults.” This post highlighted collaboration between business representatives, Rockingham County Public Schools (RCPS) leadership, and other community figures to discuss educational program expansion.
Later that day, he addressed followers across the political spectrum with a message of support: “I ask sensible people on both sides of our political divide to join Suzanne and me in praying for Charlie Kirk and his beautiful young family.”
On September 11, Obenshain commemorated the anniversary of the September 11 attacks by posting: “We will never forget. God Bless the USA”
Obenshain has served as a state senator representing Virginia’s 26th district since 2004. The annual remembrance of September 11 is observed nationwide as Patriot Day to honor victims and first responders of the terrorist attacks in 2001.
