On February 2, 2026, Obenshain encouraged Rockingham County residents to participate in an upcoming public hearing regarding improvements to Route 33. He wrote: “Rockingham Co. residents Come out tomorrow night from 4-6pm to the K’Town Ruritan Club for the VDOT Public Hearing on Rt. 33 Improvements. Can’t make it but want to submit comments email mark@markobenshain.com and we will ensure they get to VDOT.”
Later that same day, Obenshain posted about recent legislative developments in Richmond. He stated: “Check out what occurred in Richmond this past week with my weekly updates.”
On February 3, 2026, Obenshain highlighted a transportation milestone for the region by announcing the return of American/SkyWest Airlines service at Shenandoah Valley Airport. In his post he said: “Wheels up to Charlotte & Chicago We welcomed American/SkyWest Airlines back to Shenandoah Valley Airport this morning! What a great celebration to kick off their daily flights to two of the biggest hubs in the country!”
Obenshain assumed office following his election victory in 2024 and succeeded Mamie Locke as state senator for Virginia’s 2nd Senate district.
