The Highland County Solid Waste Authority and Public Works Department is now accepting applications for a Solid Waste/Public Works Assistant. This position will assist the Solid Waste Authority/ Public Waste Coordinator with daily operations. The job duties will include, but are not limited to: County building maintenance, mowing, trimming, assisting county residence with trash collection.

This person will report to the Solid Waste and Recycling Center on a daily basis regarding work projects, schedules, plans and/or needs. The Solid Waste/Public Works Assistant must have the ability to follow oral and written directions and complete assigned tasks efficiently and timely. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, official and the general public is necessary.  Applicants must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

This position is a part time seasonal position (20-29 hours/week for up to 6 months) with no County benefits. Starting wage is $11.00/hour. Applications may be obtained at the Highland County Administrators office. This position will remain open until filled. Highland County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
