James Madison University’s Payton List was named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league on April 28. This marks the second time this season that List has received this honor.

The recognition comes after List played a key role in leading James Madison to four wins during the week, including a sweep over Georgia State and a victory against No. 23 Virginia. Her performance at bat included a .500 average, three home runs, nine runs batted in, and six runs scored. She also matched her career high with three hits and hit two home runs in James Madison’s comeback win over Virginia.

During the series against Georgia State, List recorded three hits and five runs batted in while achieving a .750 slugging percentage for the weekend. In addition to her offensive contributions, she pitched five innings with six strikeouts to earn the win in the final game of that series.

Looking ahead, James Madison will finish its regular season conference schedule on Thursday, April 30 at Marshall University in Huntington. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with each matchup set to stream on ESPN+.

List’s achievements highlight her continued impact on both offense and defense for James Madison as they approach postseason play.
