Blue Ridge Community College accounting student and aspiring auditor Jessica Reigle has several reasons to celebrate her education journey this Spring semester. Recently, Reigle was awarded a scholarship from the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA) and another from Teachers of Accounting at Two Year Colleges (TACTYC).

“These two national accounting associations are very prestigious, and I am very proud for Jessica to receive such honors” said accounting instructor Ashley Larach. Both Reigle and the College will be recognized at the upcoming TACTYC conference in May.

Jessica’s goals are to continue her education in accounting and become licensed as a Certified Public Accountant as well as a Certified Internal Auditor so that she can pursue a career in auditing. When asked about how Blue Ridge Community College’s accounting program fits into her life, Reigle said that as a wife and a parent, Blue Ridge provides flexibility to learn the way that works best for her, emphasizing that the eight week course format has been quite beneficial. The accounting program at Blue Ridge Community College can be completed entirely online but does offer in-person courses, fitting a variety of students’ needs.

Accounting students at Blue Ridge can build on their associate’s degree by transferring to a four-year university or college. Blue Ridge maintains articulation agreements specific to its Associate in Applied Science Accounting and Finance degree with UNC-Asheville, Western Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, Mars Hill University, Gardner-Webb University, and Lees.-Mcrae College.

Those interested in curriculum or continuing-education accounting courses may find more information on the Blue Ridge Community College website, www.blueridge.edu, or by calling 828-883-2520.
