2021 Hands & Harvest Festival Video, Little Swiss Fund Announced

Highland County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 17

More Events and Attractions!

• Saturday, September 18th - Join members of the community for the Eleventh Annual Taste of Highland! The event will be held at The Highland Center Pavilion at 6pm under a large tent. There will be fresh, seasonal food, local meat, music, and a variety of alcoholic beverages. Get the full details at www.thehighlandcenter.org/taste-of-highland/.

• October 1st, 2nd, or 3rd - Celebrate Highland County's unique dark sky resource with the October Star Party! The dates October 1, 2, or 3, depending on which of the three nights has the best ‘seeing’ conditions – few clouds, calm air, and low humidity. The final decision as to which one of these three possible nights is selected, based on the weather forecast, will be made before October 1st.  Stay tuned to WVLS FM (87.9), The Highland County Star Gazer Facebook page, The Highland County Chamber of Commerce website, and The Recorder Facebook page to hear which night is chosen for best visibility.

• Susanna's Confections is now open at The Highland Center in Monterey every Tuesday and Friday from 9 am - 6 pm with delicious treats!

•  The Highland County Chamber of Commerce welcomes the following new August members!

Grants, Opportunities, and Resources

•  The 2021 Little Swiss Fund grant application is now open for Highland County nonprofits!  This year's grants will provide approximately $334,821 to charitable organizations.  Applications are due November 1, 2021 at 5:00PM and are available by clicking here.  Special thanks to The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County for distributing these funds on an annual basis!  If you have any questions about your organization's eligibility to apply, please contact TCFHR (ann@tcfhr.org or 540-432-3863) before you begin the application. Grants are made without regard to factors of gender, race, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation.
