City of Alexandria issued the following announcement on Oct. 29
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is aware of information circulating regarding potential threats to malls, shopping centers, and other public gathering locations in Northern Virginia this weekend. While information is limited, we remain vigilant and dedicated to protecting our community. APD will increase patrols this weekend in high visibility locations. We will also continue to work collaboratively with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to share information.
We encourage community members and visitors to report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1. Remember, if you see something, say something.
