Interested in Serving on the Planning Commission?

Blue Ridge Community College issued the following announcement on Feb. 18

The Planning Commission is a public advisory board, and its purpose is to review and advise the City Council on public and private activities involving the physical social, and economic development of the city and to review and make a comprehensive plan for the physical development of Waynesboro.    The Planning Commission affords residents the opportunity to actively participate in the planning of the city by conducting public hearings and making recommendations to the City Council on developmental cases requiring rezoning of land and conditional use permits.  A seat on the Planning Commission will becoming available, for a uncompleted four-year term ending August 31, 2025.  

This seven-member commission, appointed by the Mayor and City Council, works in conjunction with the City’s Department of Planning and Code Administration. 

The Planning Commission generally meets monthly, on the Tuesday following the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.   Additionally, they attend occasional joint public hearings and work sessions with the Mayor and City Council on Monday evenings, Council Chambers, Charles T. Yancey Municipal Bldg., 503 West Main Street, Waynesboro.

Please note all applicants must be qualified voters in the City of Waynesboro and the appointed member is required to complete a financial disclosure statement.
