On Friday, March 21, former East Rockingham High School standout Tyler Nickel’s current collegiate team the Vanderbilt Commodores lost 59-56 against the Saint Mary's Gaels in the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship Tournament.

Hosted in Rocket Arena, this was the first game against the Saint Mary's Gaels during the championship.

Tyler Nickel’s hometown is Harrisonburg and game position is point guard.
