Three former James Madison University baseball players have been chosen to participate in the 2026 MLB Spring Breakout event. The announcement was made on Thursday.

Chase DeLauter, who is part of the Cleveland Guardians organization, Jason Schiavone from the Houston Astros, and Fenwick Trimble of the Miami Marlins will represent JMU at the event.

The MLB Spring Breakout is in its third year and will take place from March 19 to March 22. It features exhibition games across various Spring Training sites over four days, highlighting up-and-coming talent in baseball.

DeLauter made his Major League debut during last season’s American League Wild Card Series. He is ranked as the 46th prospect by MLB Pipeline and holds the position of second highest ranked prospect within the Cleveland Guardians organization.

Trimble is listed as Miami’s 20th ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline. Last year, he reached Double-A level and this season received a non-roster invitation to Spring Training.

Schiavone advanced to High-A with Houston after spending most of 2025 at their Single-A affiliate.

MLB will announce final rosters for Spring Breakout, which will include between 23 and 27 players per team, on March 18.
