Senior Václav Tichý led the James Madison University men’s golf team at the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate in Daytona Beach, Florida, finishing tied for fourth place. Tichý completed the tournament with an even-par 216 after rounds of 74, 71, and 71 on the par-72 LPGA International Golf Course. This marks his eighth career top-five finish and his first for the 2025-26 season.
Owen Kose was JMU’s second-best performer, tying for 13th as an individual competitor outside of the team’s official lineup. Kose improved each round, posting scores of 76, 73, and a three-under-par 69 in the final round.
The Dukes finished fifth out of fourteen teams with a total score of 889 (+25) over three rounds. The team showed progress throughout the event with round scores of 300, 295, and 294.
Junior Michael Hake tied for 34th place with a score of 224 (+8), recording rounds of 74, 72, and 78. Freshman Ethan Anderson climbed eleven spots on Tuesday to tie for 43rd at 226 (+10), finishing with rounds of 74, 79, and a final-round 73.
Alex Seibal moved up twelve places on Tuesday after shooting an even-par round of 72 following earlier scores of 78 and 79. He ended at a total score of 229 (+13). Sophomore René Bergendi completed JMU’s lineup with a combined score of 232 (81-73-78).
The team is scheduled to compete next at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate in Southern Pines, North Carolina starting Monday, March 9.
