Tony Wilt, a Republican elected in 2024 to represent Virginia’s 34th House district, has recently used his social media platform to comment on legislative developments and court decisions affecting the state.
On January 26, 2026, Wilt criticized actions by the majority party in the legislature, stating, “The majority is outdoing themselves on their gerrymandering effort. The update this week also touches on a number of other bad ideas, like banning state agencies from verifying if grant recipients are actually eligible to receive the grant…really?!?”
Two days later, on January 28, 2026, Wilt addressed a recent judicial decision regarding redistricting. He wrote, “Today’s court ruling is a major win for fair representation for rural Virginians. The Circuit Court found Democrats’ attempt to revive partisan gerrymandering wasn’t lawfully passed on multiple counts. This is an important step in stopping a partisan power grab.”
On January 30, 2026, Wilt highlighted progress in housing legislation: “The Housing Subcommittee advanced our HB 1259 tonight—strengthening protections for tenants and homeowners by ensuring mold remediation is done by qualified professionals. This builds on a bipartisan effort with Del. McQuinn from last year, informed by stakeholder recommendations”.
Wilt succeeded Kathleen J. Murphy as representative of Virginia’s 34th House district following his election in 2024.
