Former East Rockingham High School basketball standout Tyler Nickel played for the Vanderbilt Commodores, who defeated the McNeese State Cowboys 78-68 in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 19.
The matchup took place at Paycom Center at 2:15 p.m.
Nickel recorded 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists over 32 minutes of play.
Vanderbilt’s next contest is scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at 7:45 p.m. at Paycom Center.
Former James Madison safety Jacob Thomas has signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings after completing an accomplished college career. He is only the second JMU player to join Minnesota’s roster.
This ex-Central Shenandoah area high school standout will participate in competitions on Sunday, May 3.
James Madison softball secured a key win over Marshall on May 1, evening their series at one game each. Strong performances from Kendra Lewis and Emily LeGrand helped force a decisive third matchup set for Saturday.
