The VMI baseball team defeated the Radford Highlanders 11-6 on March 21 at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium, evening their series with a strong offensive performance.

The win is significant for the Keydets, who improved their record to 18-4 and demonstrated resilience after an early deficit. The Highlanders fell to 9-10.

After giving up two runs in the first inning, VMI responded quickly. Ayden Schnarrs grounded out to bring home Owen Prince in the bottom of the first. Cole Raile tied the game with a home run in the second inning. In the third, Seth Buchanan’s single helped VMI take a 4-2 lead. The fourth inning proved decisive as VMI scored six runs, highlighted by contributions from Cole Cook, Grayson Fitzwater, Bradley Garner, and Raile. Defensive errors by Radford also allowed Raile to score an unearned run.

Pitcher Eli Tyndall played a key role for VMI, pitching over six innings and allowing just two earned runs on six hits while striking out two batters. At the plate, Raile collected three hits—including his home run—two RBI, and scored three times. Cook added three hits and a solo home run in the seventh inning. Fitzwater contributed two hits and two RBI.

For Radford, Junho Son had two hits and drove in two runs while Hunter Keen hit a home run for two RBI.

The teams will meet again Sunday at Radford for the series finale at 1 p.m., though no live stream will be available.
