The VMI Keydets men’s lacrosse team will travel to Brookville, New York, for a game against Long Island University (LIU) on Sunday morning, April 12. The contest was originally scheduled for Saturday but has been moved to Sunday with the opening faceoff set for 11 a.m. at Shark Stadium.

This game is important as the Keydets seek to recover from their recent loss to Robert Morris, who currently shares the Northeast Conference lead with LIU. VMI holds a season record of four wins and six losses overall and one win and three losses in conference play. Junior attackman Dayton Bagwell led VMI in their last outing by scoring four goals, earning him NEC Prime Performer honors for the fifth time this season.

LIU enters the matchup with a strong record of nine wins and one loss overall, including an undefeated mark in conference play at 4-0. Their only defeat came against Rutgers on February 24. Since then, they have posted several victories, including a dominant win over Mercyhurst by a score of 25-6.

Ben McIsaac leads LIU with 30 goals and eight assists this season and was named NEC Player of the Week. Other key contributors include Aidan Zuhoski with 23 goals and Cameron Connolly with 13 goals through ten games. Defensively, Kyle Cochran leads in caused turnovers while goalkeeper Tyler Gresh has played nearly every minute this year.

The series between VMI and LIU began in 2023 and currently stands at two wins for LIU and one win for VMI. The Keydets earned their first victory over the Sharks last season during their final game of the year.
