The VMI lacrosse team will return home to play against Cleveland State on March 26 at Drill Field 2, following two consecutive away games during Spring Furlough.

This matchup is significant as it brings the Keydets back in front of their home crowd and pits them against a Northeast Conference opponent. The game will be available for fans through live streaming and live stats.

Cleveland State enters the contest with a record of three wins and five losses. Their season included defeats by Denver, tenth-ranked Ohio State, Bellarmine, and Marquette. The Vikings later achieved victories over Canisius, St. Bonaventure, and Mercyhurst before losing to conference co-leader Robert Morris by an 11-6 score last weekend. Brennen Hickey leads Cleveland State in goals with eighteen this year and also tops the team in points with twenty-five.

In goal, Oliver Vanyo and Justin Dalum have shared time nearly equally for Cleveland State. Vanyo has started the last four games while Dalum played the first four matches of the season.

The all-time series between VMI and Cleveland State began in 2021. Last season marked VMI’s first win over the Vikings after four previous losses, ending with an 11-9 victory on the road.

In their most recent outing on March 21 against Mercyhurst in Erie, Pennsylvania, VMI secured a 19-13 win. Jack Duncan-Bloom scored a career-high six goals—including three in the opening period—and was named NEC Player of the Week. Freshman Ethan Ostrowski earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors after scoring four goals.
