VMI Rifle Team begins competition at Junior Olympic Championship in Anniston

The VMI Rifle Team began its participation in the 2026 Air and Smallbore Rifle National Junior Olympic Championship on April 9 in Anniston, Alabama.

The event brings together young shooters from across the country to compete at a national level. The VMI team is represented by athletes Soraya Sar and Elizabeth Stann during this week’s championship.

On Wednesday, Soraya Sar competed in smallbore, finishing with a score of 552 with six center shots. Sar is scheduled to participate again on Thursday as part of the second relay. Elizabeth Stann will compete in the third relay and posted a score of 554 with nine center shots.

The championship provides an opportunity for junior shooters to demonstrate their skills and gain experience on a national stage.
