Three athletes from the Virginia Military Institute men’s lacrosse team received all of this week’s Northeast Conference honors, according to an April 27 announcement by the league. The recognition follows VMI’s recent win over Detroit Mercy, which secured the team’s place in the upcoming conference tournament.

The awards include Freshman Ethan Ostrowski being named both Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week. Senior goalie Adam Norris was selected as Defensive Player of the Week. Sophomore Beau Durkin was also recognized as a Prime Performer for his efforts during VMI’s victory.

Ostrowski scored five goals on nine shots, achieving a shooting percentage of 55 percent in VMI’s 14-5 win over Detroit Mercy. He also collected two groundballs during the game. Norris contributed with 14 saves in his time guarding the net, allowing only three goals before being substituted late in regulation and picking up four groundballs defensively.

Durkin recorded a hat trick and added one assist for four points overall. He scored on half of his six shot attempts and provided what became the game-winning goal in the second period.

VMI will enter this week’s Northeast Conference Tournament as the fourth seed and is scheduled to play top-seeded Robert Morris Thursday night at Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
