The VMI Water Polo Team lost to No. 24 Villanova by a score of 20-6 on March 22 in Poughkeepsie, New York.

This match was significant as it pitted the Keydets against a nationally ranked opponent, providing a test before the end of the regular season.

Sydney Smith led VMI with a hat trick, while Kathryn Myler, Makynna Smith, and Hollie Sauceda each added goals for the team. All three goalies saw playing time during the game. The teams traded goals early in the match, but Villanova closed out the first period with a strong 4-1 run. The Wildcats then outscored VMI 5-1 in the second period and maintained control for the rest of the contest.

The Keydets will finish their regular season at home next weekend by hosting the VMI-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showcase.
