Diesel gas was sold at the lowest price of $3.17 per gallon at one gas station in Waynesboro city during the week ending Jan. 3, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The county registered an average of $3.40 per gallon for diesel gas.
Of the 14 reported gas stations in cities within Waynesboro city, six offered diesel gas.
For comparison, the average price of diesel gas in Virginia was $3.55 per gallon for the week ending Jan. 3, down from the previous week.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
