71 percent of applicants to James Madison University were admitted for fall 2018

At James Madison University, 97 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 58 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Harrisonburg enrolled 21,751 students in fall 2018, including 19,923 in undergraduate and 1,828 in graduate programs, data shows. 3.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

73 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 26 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (75 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (7 percent).

The school admitted 71 percent of the 23,149 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 28 percent enrolled.
