The Bridgewater College women's basketball team earned a 58-35 victory against Ferrum in Nininger Hall on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ferrum got the first points of the contest off a pair of free throws but a three-pointer by Abby Branner put the Eagles in front with 6:08 left in the first quarter. Another three from India Dailey followed by Riley Corcoran nailing a third-straight trey put the home side up 9-4 with 3:22 on the clock. Down the stretch, each side exchanged scores as the Eagles held a 15-11 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.
- The second quarter was almost all Bridgewater's as it outscored Ferrum 20-6 across the frame. Jay Garcia opened the period with a turn around jumper with a pair of Abby Freeman free throws set the score at 18-11 in the early goings. The Eagles eventually stretched their lead out to as many as 18 points after Erika Nettles dropped a pair of free throws in the waning seconds of the half.
- The third quarter was the lowest scoring of the afternoon with just 15 total points between the two sides. Aisha Martin made the first bucket for either side as Ferrum eventually worked the lead down to 35-21 with 7:56 left in the quarter. The Eagles ended the third on a 9-2 run to take a 44-23 lead into the last 10 minutes of regulation.
- Kayla Ford got her first points of the game on a three-pointer to kick off the fourth quarter to push the lead up to 47-23. Ferrum quickly cut into the lead with a 10-0 run eclipsing the next two minutes of action, trimming the lead to 47-33. After a timeout, the Eagles strongly responded by holding the Panthers to just two points over the last six minutes of regulation as the home side walked away with a 58-35 victory to pick up their 10th victory of the season.
- Nettles was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 10 points to go with a game-high 14 rebounds. She also recoded three steals in the win and has registered a double-double in consecutive games.
- Rosemary Pierson finished with nine points and a rebounds, while Abby Freeman pitched in eight points of her own with four rebounds. Jaden Alsberry finished with seven points and grabbed seven bounds as well.
- For the Panthers, Kayla Cabiness led the way with nine points despite making just 1-of-10 shots from the field. Aisha Martin recorded eight points and five rebounds, while Allyson Cassell was Ferrum's leading rebounder with seven in the loss.
- Bridgewater shot 37.0 percent from the field going 20-for-54 compared to Ferrum's 21.7 clip on 10-of-46 from the floor.
- The Eagles also won the battle on the boards holding a 43-29 edge on the glass.
