The Basics

Final Score: Bridgewater 84, Hollins 53

Records: Bridgewater 12-2 (7-1 ODAC), Hollins 1-11 (0-9 ODAC)

How It Happened

  • The Eagles opened the contest with an Abby Branner three-pointer to take an early lead. Hollins was able to take the lead quickly after an 8-2 run before Jaden Alsberry sparked an 18-3 stretch for BC where the Eagles saw production from seven different scorers including triples from India Dailey and Rosemary Pierson. BC ended period ahead 23-13.
  • The Bridgewater defense owned the second quarter limiting HU to just four points in the frame and forced a 8:22 scoring draught for the home team. The Eagles stretched their lead out to as much as 30 points in the closing stages of the frame after Dailey found Erika Nettles on the block. Hollins responded and ended the scoring drought in the final 10 seconds of the half to make it 45-17 heading into the intermission.
  • Both sides traded baskets to open the third quarter before a Nettles old-fashioned three-point play and a Riley Corcoran jumper from long range stretched the Eagles lead. Bridgewater extended the advantage to as much as 36 after a second-chance bucket from Jasmyn Pierce. Hollins closed the frame on a 6-2 run to make it 65-35 heading into the final 10 minutes.
  • The fourth quarter did not see much separation between the two squads with Bridgewater outscoring the home team 19-18 over the final stretch. Bridgewater again saw well spread production as five different players scored in the quarter led by six from Abby Freeman and five from Kayla Ford. The Eagles also shot 11/16 from the charity stripe in the fourth and did not attempt single three-pointer.
