There were 304 Black students enrolled in Rockingham County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 10.9% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Rockingham County Public Schools District welcomed 11,570 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 2.6% of the student body to be the fourth most represented ethnicity in the school.

Rockingham County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Harrisonburg City and has a main office in Harrisonburg.

Among the 23 schools in Rockingham County Public Schools District, Cub Run Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
